Tapping Into Your Immune System's Resilience

Updated: Aug 29, 2024

Immunity cells get activated when tapping on meridians

Hey there health explorers, are you looking for ways to boost your immune system?  Did you know that tapping isn’t just for calming emotional storms?  Tapping or EFT also has the potential to support and strengthen your immune system, crucial for anyone dealing with cancer or other chronic illnesses.

Your immune system is the powerhouse that fights off infection and disease, making it absolutely vital if you're going through cancer treatment. But some of the biggest dampeners on immune function are stress and inflammation. And while most cancer treatments are laser-focused on eliminating or controlling those nasty cancer cells, immune health often takes a backseat. That's why learning ways to manage stress, to reduce inflammation, and give your immunity a boost are essential for you if you’re on a healing journey.

This is why I just looooove emotional freedom technique (EFT), or "tapping" as it's often called. Not only does it send calming signals straight to your brain, it also stimulates those precious meridian points that have a direct effect on the organs responsible for releasing stuck emotions and stagnant energy. And get this - those meridian points also help optimize immune function! Woop woop!  By tapping on the acupressure points that govern certain meridians, you're literally giving your body a little immune-boosting boost. It's like a double-dose of goodness, perfect for anyone battling a chronic illness.

Meridians Anyone?

Now, you might be wondering - what the heck are meridians, anyway? Well, meridians are these energy pathways that allow energy to flow through the body and facilitate all kinds of awesome changes. The ancient Chinese (about 5,000 years ago, can you believe it?!) discovered that these meridian channels get outa whack when we experience intense emotions or stressful events. And when they're unbalanced, that energy flow becomes stagnant, which can quickly lead to disease.

It wasn't long after the Chinese mapped out these meridians that practices like acupuncture, tai chi, and qi gong were developed to help get that energy flowing freely again and restore balance. And thanks to modern science, we now know that meridians are actually vascular structures that play a vital role in how our bodies function. Isn't that fascinating?

Tapping and the Meridians.

Alright, so let's dive into the nitty-gritty of how tapping connects to meridians.

There are 12 main meridians that run along both sides of the body, with over 2,000 acupoints that acupuncturists and Chinese medicine practitioners use to create changes. The basic EFT sequence focuses on tapping 8 of those points, from the top of your head all the way down to your underarm.

Instead of using needles like in acupuncture, we're stimulating those acupoints through the power of acupressure - using our very own fingertips.  That's right, the healing potential is literally in your own hands!  And the act of tapping itself is believed to be the secret sauce that signals your brain to calm your body down. In fact, some research from the brilliant minds at Harvard Medical School has shown that tapping on those acupressure points has a direct effect on the structures in your body that carry your blood and lymph. It's these structures that instantly help decrease stress responses in your brain. Amazing hey?!

Now, let's explore how those 9 tapping points in the EFT basic sequence relate to your meridians, organs, and emotions. Get ready, this is where the mapping magic unfolds:

Boost your cancer healing potential with tapping.

Now can you see why tapping is so powerful?  It’s a whole lot of goodness right at your fingertips.   And the best part is, you can use these magical meridian points to support your healing journey with cancer. The physical, emotional, and mental challenges of cancer treatment can be absolutely daunting. But I believe EFT can be a powerful complement to any form of conventional medical care.

You see, when you're dealing with a health crisis, it's not just the physical stuff you're trying to shift - there's also all that increased stress and those heavy emotions like grief, anger, despair, fear, sadness, and anxiety that come into play. By stimulating points directly linked to boosting immune function, like the Thymus and Spleen points, you can amplify your lymphatic system's natural ability to keep fluids flowing and those precious immune cells circulating. And when you focus on releasing stuck emotions, you free up that vital energy in your body to support your physical healing and overall well-being. It's a beautiful synergy, don't you think?

Now, I've got a few extra-special immune-boosters up my sleeve, especially for anyone  navigating a cancer journey. First up, is the Thymus Point this magical spot is located just below that U-shaped notch at the top of your breastbone. The thymus gland is a real powerhouse, stimulating your lymphatic system and producing those T-cells that are essential for immune defence. By tapping on the Thymus point, you can potentially energize this crucial gland and encourage the production of those mighty T-cells.

And then there's the Spleen Point, which we touched on as part of the 8-point EFT sequence. It's located about 4 fingers down from your armpit.  In addition to its amazing abilities listed before, it also produces those lymphocyte immune cells that give your defences a big boost. Tapping on this point can help your body churn out and circulate those disease-fighting cells, reducing infections and revving up your energy.  So you may like to spend a little more time giving this point some love.

Last but not least, let's talk about the 9 Gamut Point. This little pocket rocket is discreetly nestled between your fourth knuckle and little knuckle, in the groove about a fingernail length down. Its superpower is regulating body temperature, metabolism, and the endocrine system (including your thyroid and pituitary glands). It's fantastic for soothing shock, easing repetitive thinking and worry, and managing fatigue - plus, it promotes a beautiful sense of calm, clarity, and hope. Isn't that just the best?!

Now, I have to be super clear here, while tapping can be an incredibly powerful complementary therapy, it should never ever replace your conventional medical treatments. It’s called complementary for a reason.  When you combine this ancient wisdom with modern medical care, you are upping the healing potential of your system. It supports your body's innate healing abilities and gives your immune system the resilience it needs to combat disease. And that my friends, is a whole lotta magic waiting for you to incorporate into your health care.

I do hope this little exploration of the magic of meridians and tapping has inspired you to take matters into your own hands. Remember, your body is remarkably resilient, and with the right support, it can do incredible things.
