What is Somatic Therapy?
Somatic therapy is a body-based approach that helps regulate the nervous system
& release stress, trauma, and emotional overwhelm stored in the body.
It combines awareness of physical sensations, gentle processing of sensations,

Somatic Therapy FAQs
Does somatic therapy really work for stress and burnout?
Yes. Somatic therapy works directly with the nervous system, helping your body release stored stress and return to a regulated state.
Is Somatic Therapy suitable for grief or cancer-related stress?
Absolutely. This approach is especially helpful for grief including anticipatory grief, and the emotional toll of a cancer & cancer caregiving. You are provided with tools to keep you regulated and to help ride any emotional storms.
Is Somatic Therapy different from traditional counselling?
Yes. Traditional counselling focuses on examining thoughts & behaviours. Somatic therapy focusses on the body, which is where stress and trauma are often held.
Do I need to have experienced trauma for somatic therapy to work?
No. Somatic therapy is helpful for anyone experiencing stress, anxiety, burnout, or emotional overwhelm—not just trauma. It supports your overall nervous system health and emotional wellbeing.
Do I need to talk about my issues or past?
Only if that's helpful. While your story is important, it's not important for us to discuss for somatic therapy to be effective. Sessions are guided gently with a focus on increasing your body-mind awareness in the present moment. You only go at a pace that feels safe for you and there's no ne.
Do you offer support for carers and healthcare professionals experiencing burnout?
Yes. I work with carers, healthcare workers, and professionals who are experiencing burnout, compassion fatigue, or emotional exhaustion, providing practical tools to support regulation and resilience.
